1. LOOK AT THE THERMOSTAT
Start by checking to see if your thermostat is telling your heater to ignite.
Digital Thermostat: Change the batteries if you see an empty screen. If the digital screen is mixed up, the thermostat may need to be swapped out.
Check to see if your settings are switched to “heat” instead of “off” or “cool.”
Check if the program is set to the appropriate day and time. If you cannot turn off the program, set the temperature by using the up/down arrows and holding the “hold” button. This will turn the furnace on.
Turn the heat five degrees above the current room temperature.
If your heating hasn’t turned on within several minutes, toggle the fan switch from “auto” to “on" to see if there's electricity. If your furnace fails to run, it doesn’t have power.
Smart Thermostat: Discovering issues with your smart thermostat is model specific. We suggest visiting the manufacturer's website or contacting them directly. Contact us if you still can't get your furnace to work after speaking with the manufacturer.

Next, you must check if your breaker is on or off. Here's how:
Find your main electrical panel, a metal box usually on the wall of your basement, garage or closet.
Dry your hands and feet before touching the panel or breakers.
Find the breaker labeled “furnace” or “heat” and double-check it’s turned on. Tripped breakers will be in the middle or “off” position.
Turn the breaker to the “on” position. If the breaker instantly trips and pops back to “off,” don't try to reset it and contact us immediately.

Furnaces stop working due to old, dirty or damaged air filters regularly. An old filter can cause:
-Your furnace to quit turning on.
-Your furnace to overwork itself.
-Your furnace to overheat.
-An increase in your energy bill.
-A loss of furnace power.
Your filter is in your furnace's blower compartment. Here's how you replace it:
-Turn your heater off.
-Pull out the filter and hold it up to the light. If you can't see the light through it, you need a new one.
-Insert the new filter with the arrow pointing toward the furnace to prevent damage.
You should replace flat filters monthly and pleated filters every three months. We encourage more regular replacement for homes with children and animals.
-
If you find liquid seeping from your heater's condensate pan (or drain pan) or the pan is overflowing with water, follow these steps:
If your pan has a drain, check to see if it's full. If it needs to be drained, use a special pan-cleaning tablet. You can find these tablets at home improvement or hardware shops.
If your pan contains a pump, check the float switch. If the lever can’t be moved from the “up” position with liquid in the pan, contact us immediately to schedule a pump replacement.
-
If failures continue, look inside your furnace’s plastic window or the outside of your heater to check the blower motor’s status.
If you don't see a solid-colored light or flickering green light, your heater is most likely displaying an error code only a professional can fix. Contact us for a service.
